The Double Raised Rib Stitch creates a deeply textured fabric using Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC) and Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC). By alternating front and back post stitches in groups of two, you create raised ribs that stand out from the fabric.
This stitch is commonly used for:
- Hat brims
- Sweater cuffs
- Blanket borders
- Textured crochet projects
Notes
- The beginning Ch 3 counts as a Double Crochet.
- FPDC stitches are worked around the post of the stitch from front to back to front.
- BPDC stitches are worked around the post of the stitch from back to front to back.
- Do not work into the tops of the stitches when making FPDC or BPDC stitches.
- Focus on identifying the stitch posts and maintaining even tension.
- The goal of this swatch is practice and confidence, not size.
