Just a little porch crocheting
Welcome everyone! This is my latest project and I am enjoying crocheting on the deck today. This one is the alpine stitch. I am working on this pattern and will share it soon. The yarn is I Love This Yarn at Hobby Lobby, Turquoise 110. What are you crocheting today?

@Kimberlee Gibson It will be soon! I’m working on the full pattern. It’s called the Alpine stitch. I love it!
Currently working on Block 10- Raised Rib/Brick Post Stitch
This one uses Front Post Double crochet and Back Post Double Crochet. It creates a mix of a raised rib and brick pattern. It’s not as hard as it seems. With a little practice, it is easy to follow.

@Kimberlee Gibson thank you!
Red, White, and Blue Inspiration
This is the lap blanket I use almost every day in my office. This is just one of many blankets I have made by the block.

First Block
I just completed my first block. It has 29 rows of SC and it still doesn’t measure 8”. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks for any feedback.

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. It may just be your tension is a little tighter or maybe the yarn thickness. But you’re not doing anything wrong, it looks great. Also, are you using the 5.5mm (or aka 9) hook? You can either add two rows of Single crochet around the block border or do a few more blocks and see if you stay consistent in the 7” size. You can remake it and add a couple more sc to the pattern, and see if that helps. As long as all of your blocks are close, you’ll be fine.

@Kimberlee Gibson the 6 is a little larger and you can use it, as long as you continue to use it on all of the blocks. The main thing is to keep everything the same, except in the single crochet around the block, you can go smaller on that one if you need to. Also, my patterns are not perfect, sometimes you may have to adjust them to your crochet style. I like to use all types and brands of yarn. Some of them are thicker and some are thinner, even though they all say #4 worsted. Let me know if you need any help.
