Alright, I wanted to post my credit repair journey so far. It's still on going, with more results to come. But this is what we got so far!
But first, just a little story. Promise not to take too much for your time!
So around this time two years ago, I wanted to start leveraging my credit so that I can purchase real estate assets. But I was told:
"Your credit would need to be substantially higher in order for us to lend on a project with you."
And it did hurt at first, but looking back at my trail of destruction, I had the following issues on my credit upon asking this.
Repossession of a vehicle from back in I wanna say 2019. Written off as a charge off.
A bankruptcy due to a medical bill which came with a lawsuit. 2021 if I recall.
Several hard inquiries from applying for a personal loan. 2024
A hard inquiry from my bank that till this day still sits on there since 2014.
Two credit cards that got sent to collections due to me leaving my old home in Alabama to go live with my mother and grandmother after their spouses/my step father and grandfather passed.
My credit was roughly 556, and I was told I needed at least in the 600s to even begin.
But there was just one problem, nowhere would accept me by means to improve my credit. No credit cards, cars, apartments, nothing would accept me.
Fast forward a bit to nearly the end of 2024 I learned about unsecured credit cards. I signed up with my bank and deposited at the time, %90 of my paycheck one week into one. $250.
I also signed up for a credit builder via credit karma to withdraw $20 a month.
These gave me small bumps along the way to increase my credit. Mind you, I did pay my credit cards off that got sent to collections. I remember seeing midway through 2025, my vantage credit jumping to 622.
Well! After obtaining credit repair from this wonderful community, it took some time before results came in. But one day I wake up to this notification from credit karma.(Vantage scores, I hadn't checked my Fico yet)
Your credit has increased! Check out your new score!
670.
I jumped for joy cause I seen that not only was my credit age getting longer increasing my score, and I now know about only using smaller percent of my credit, less than %30.
But nothing tops the feeling that hit my last week.
Now I'm skipping over a lot of time here, so the process does take time.
I checked my Fico score last week because I had an email from Experian.
720.
The credit repair has finally cleaned up what I drug through the mud due to adolescent misunderstanding!
As of now, my repossession and that one bothersome inquiry is all that's left on there!
Will update again when the process is completed!
