Hello! My name is Ruben and this is my story. I'm a professor of communication and digital media soon entering my 50s. I have considerable knowledge in, and have studied extensively, the topic of entrepreneurship and have a failed digital start-up under my belt. But after that traumatic experience that ended in 2014, I decided to give solopreneurship a shot. So, for the past 7 years or so, I've run a design website, selfmadedesigner.com, where I teach design to non-designers. Back in the day, I cracked SEO, getting my blog off the ground very quickly to 30,000 views with only a handful of articles. But AI, among other things, killed the blog overnight, and I never even created a product (build the audience first mistake). I've had the objective of creating my course, but that project has never gotten off the ground. Now, I'm giving YouTube a chance. I love being a self-learner, but I've gotten to the point where it's clear I can't do this alone. There are so many moving parts, and they all are hard. I've been following Alexa for some time now and remember when her very first videos started popping up on my radar. She's been an inspiration lately, especially because of her academic background. I've been here for a couple of months but this is my first post here. I've been following Alexa, primarily, for a while now because of her drive, integrity, similarities in mindset training, and her enthusiasm. I just purchased her online program this week and I am really enjoying it. I've been trying to get started for about 5 years, now. I'm finally recording my first video this week!! 💯 It's exciting! I'm a firm believer that most good things in life come while serving others! Hello! Mary Schiller here. I'm thrilled to be part of this group because I have seen what YouTube has done for my business, even though I've been haphazard about it, and now I want to use it intentionally. I have 30 years of experience as a writer, editor and online educator. In 2016, I started a life-coaching business and have done some business coaching along the way, too. My specialty is helping solopreneurs create and share "authority assets," starting with a mini-book. Short books on Amazon + my YouTube channel have been the two biggest sources of clients for me. On the personal side, I'm originally from California but moved to Paris, France, in 2017, with my husband. I'm an unabashed cat lady, although I don't have any right now! We're hoping the "cat distribution system" will find us soon.

I help busy women in their 40s stop restarting diets and finally understand their own body. Yesterday published my first YouTube video - talking head, educational, personal stories included. English is my second language so camera confidence is a work in progress. What I'm struggling with - getting found from zero, titles and thumbnails, and turning viewers into coaching clients.
