your creative time isn’t something necessarily special. It’s sacred for sure. But also completely normal. Sometimes we can build the anticipation. Or make making art be this big mind blowing thing. It’s like this crescendo. A huge build up only to remind us that it wasn’t a big crazy deal to just sit down and create Which is what makes us believe that working on our stuff is going to take so much time, effort, mind power, physical power.. that we need to be in the right mood, have the right amount of time… When the truth is that it’s actually very normal for you to be taking the time to make art. It’s actually very normal for you to put everything else down for a moment to be present with your creativity. It’s actually very normal to work on something that has no direct ROI or outcome. It’s actually very normal and human to desire to create because it’s what we were made for. I was feeling some resistance earlier and next thing I knew, (after organizing some messy files to make the process even easier).. I was in flow working on a song and having a great time. Then I thought “oh, this feels so normal” I didn’t have to “get into flow” I just allowed it. I just embodied my work. This is my life. And that is art too. So, slow down. Take a moment and normalize this practice. Lose yourself a little in the making of. It’s not a big deal. But it means the world.
