When I launched my detergent business I asked myself, what are the small things I can do to gain life time customers: -write hand written thank you notes with every order -ship out same day or next day if after 3pm -provide a value add “Freebie” in their order. Entering an industry dominated by giant chemical companies, I’ve had to get creative with how we get customers to convert to our product. There was a time where you wanted the largest influencers with the most followers to be talking about your product. But the reality is, small businesses can’t afford those guys. Instead our digital marketing strategy is focused around the micro-influencer market. We want people that have a niche profile, and high engagement. The ROAS is much higher with an affiliate that has 20k committed followers, vs somebody with 150k followers and little engagement. Today my focus was on affiliate outreach. I successfully signed a Cincinnati spin cycle teacher to promote our product on her Instagram, while handing out samples to her students at the end of class. While this is one small win, my hope is the effects of our affiliate program will snowball within these small, tight knit communities.
