I had a conversation tonight that really inspired me, and I want to share this with anyone building a nonprofit or thinking about starting one…
👉🏽 Host a Prom Dress Giveaway / “Prom Closet” Experience
This is something nonprofits across the country are already doing — collecting gently used prom dresses, shoes, and accessories, then giving them away to young girls for FREE.
But here’s the part I want you to really see…
This is not just about dresses.
This is about:• confidence• dignity• making young girls feel seen and celebrated
• supporting those who may be coming from difficult situations
💡 How you can execute this:
• Start a donation drive (dresses, shoes, accessories)
• Partner with local churches, salons, schools, and community centers
• Set a date (May or June is perfect timing)
• Create a “boutique-style” experience where girls can come shop for free
✨ Turn it into a full experience:
Hair. Makeup. Photos. Encouragement.
Now you’re not just running a program…You’re creating a moment they will never forget.
And for those of you learning grants 👀YES — this is the kind of program that:• attracts sponsors• brings in community support• can be written into a grant proposal
I want you all thinking bigger about how your mission can show up in REAL life.
If you would actually do something like this, comment “PROM” below or DM me — I’d love to help you map it out 🤍
