New week, new goals
Hey Dads, heading into a new week let’s aim to be a little better than last. What was something you struggled with last week and what are you aiming to achieve this week? I’ll go first, last week I was unintentional with screen time and spend more hours on the devices last week then I would like. This week be more present focus on getting in my daily workouts and all screen time to be purpose driven not mindless scrolling.

Provider or Present DAD?
Hey All, Just curious what you guys would actually choose in this classic dad dilemma between provider and present, no right or wrong answers. Two options: Job A pays a lot more, covers bills easily, extra for holidays, abundant savings, better future for the kids, but comes with working away, night shifts, OT grind, or doing work that’s not your passion. More provider mode, but sacrifices time at home. Job B pays enough for our current needs (no money worries on basics), feels more aligned with what you value, and gives way more family time. No nights away, regular evenings/weekends, being present for the everyday moments. Simpler lifestyle, no big extras, slow savings rate. If you had to pick between the two, would you go for A (higher pay + sacrifices) or B (steady + more home time)? And what does your current work look more like—A or B? Also add you current situation, married? Young or older kids? Etc. Thanks for the honest takes, comment below!
Big announcement & huge thank you! 🙌
Over the last few weeks, something incredible has happened on my Instagram (@jakenewtonslaw). The dad/parent content. those real, funny, and heartfelt moments about fatherhood, family life, and navigating parenthood, has received overwhelming love and support. The engagement, comments, shares, and messages have been next-level, and it’s clear that’s where the energy and connection is right now. Because of that, I’m making a shift here on Skool. This isn’t the end of “Bridge the Gap” — the martial arts side of things is just going on pause for a while so I can lean into what people are responding to most strongly. The page will now focus primarily on dad and parent content: tips, stories, struggles, wins, humor, and all the real stuff that comes with being a parent (especially as a dad). I’m beyond grateful for every single one of you who’ve been here through the martial arts journey—your support has meant the world and helped build this community. If the new direction isn’t for you and martial arts was your main interest, I totally get it, no hard feelings at all if you choose to unfollow. I appreciate your honesty and the time you’ve spent here. That said, if you’re a dad, parent, or just love that kind of relatable content, I’d love for you to stick around! And if you’re on Instagram, come join me over there at @jakenewtonslaw — the dad vibes are strong, and the support there has been amazing. Would mean a lot to keep growing that side together. Thank you again for the incredible support—truly. Excited for what’s next in this new chapter. ❤️ Drop a comment below if you’re in for the dad/parent era!
