In June 2026, I decided that I wanted to run my own senior basketball team as a player/coach.
Season 1 was a rollercoaster, learning on the job as well as wanting to play the sport I love. It was fun but way too stressful and not sustainable long-term, financially or mentally.
However, in recent months, I found a solution to all the headaches grassroots basketball coaches put themselves through to run an amateur side.
Recruiting players seemed impossible in a thinly populated area. That was until I discovered the power of targeted social media scouting.
Despite the difference in age and abilities, I managed to run session plans and principles that all my players buy into.
Season 1, we were burning through the club's money from other age groups for court costs and other expenses. Season 2, we can comfortably profit a small amount by the end of the season from player monthly memberships alone.
Running a basketball team shouldn't consume all your energy so let me help you run a sustainable one.
