I turned my sim rig into an AI image generator
Sorry in advance, I write too much... thought this would be a good story to share
So I was sitting sitting at the dining room table enjoying leftover lamb bhuna with way too much naan for so little curry, and I had my mac open on claude, and I was thinking about how I had half my weekly limit remaining with 12 hours to go in the week (it reset half way for some reason) and I was trying to think of something really meaty to throw at it.
[Background]
I lead a dungeons and dragons game for my son and his friends once a week, and I like to send them an image after to help them visualise a scene from the session. But im pretty time poor and remembering which free AI image generator i used and finding the prompt i used last time to keep it consistant was a bit of a problem - so i wanted claude to be able to help me. The rough plan was to set it up to call a $ per image service to generate the image and hope claud could dial into the service enough to know how to get consistent image styles each time without requesting over and over again.

So anyway: I was sitting there thinking about how I am:
  1. time poor
  2. also quite lazy
  3. but also dont like spending money
And I started to think about how I have a sim rig upstairs running a nvidia 4070ti that is basically a student taking a gap year to travel when i'm not actually in the rig missing apex's and blaming my car setup for what is obviously a driving competency gap.
I asked fable for some options. Claude was already neck deep in building my "Rigmon" (needs a funny name) sim rig monitoring tool and iracing telemetry analysis tool. So has SSH access into the rig - there was a bit of a path to follow there and the stage was already half-set.
By the time I had finished my Bhuna I had the rig producing a test image, the tool stack wasnt quite right as claude had favoured short generation time over outcome quality (still incrementally improving that in terms of how we work together) but with a couple of posts from this community, some previous totally unrelated work (sim rig monitoring) leading me straight to the solution - I managed to build out something pretty awesome
2nd image I ever asked it to produce attached (there were a couple of tweak revisions on that request), sure the joker is a bit pudgey, but maybe thats because i had asked claude about a workout routine immediately beforehand 👻
cheers for the inspiration
