I start my new job on Monday 🤓🥳🔥
Hey folks! I've been offline for a bit working on my own business, and being so inspired by Izzy over here who is working hard as well.
A few weeks ago I got a call from a former teacher of mine, who said she might have a job for me.This is someone who is well known in my field, and a person I admire and would give anything to work with. She specifically thought of me because:
- I had applied to teach in her department (she saw a resume with quantified achievements and a great cover letter made with Izzy's template)
- She remembered me from school (has seen me connect with content and be genuinely excited about it)
- She heard about my open to work post on LinkedIn (which I pushed myself to do because Izzy really sold its value to me)
- She had heard about me through community (because of workshops I have done, and mutual connections)
I still sent in a resume and went through an interview process with leadership, and this role is new to the organization so I get to co-create it with a brilliant team. I'd only ever heard of people getting jobs in this way before, but never thought it could happen to me.

The more you create authentic connections with people, the more opportunities will come your way. Putting myself out there was difficult - I am introverted and used to despise networking. But network building is not only about meeting new people, it's about building nourishing connections with the folks that you already know, and showing people what it's like to work with you in every way you can.
Using Izzy's techniques has been transformative in my ability to feel good and confident talking about the value that I bring. You are in this community because this can help you, and if you were looking for a sign to inspire you to do something that scares you, this is it!
