This month our focus is on Parent Supporting Parents / Preventing Burnout & Finding Support. Yesterday, we gathered as a community for an honest and much-needed conversation about the parent behind the gifted child. We spend so much time talking about our children’s education, gifts, challenges, opportunities, and future, but yesterday reminded us of something equally important: We cannot keep pouring into our children without making sure we are being poured into, too. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH: PARENTS SUPPORTING PARENTS One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation was that support shouldn’t be something we seek only when we’re already overwhelmed. Parenting can sometimes feel like carrying an invisible backpack filled with advocacy, school decisions, appointments, research, financial responsibilities, emotional support, and the constant desire to give our children the very best. And somewhere along the way, we can lose sight of ourselves. That’s why this month, Chosen to Raise Greatness™ is intentionally focusing on: SUPPORTING THE PARENT SO THE PARENT CAN CONTINUE SUPPORTING THE CHILD. We talked about: 1. Recognizing the early signs of burnout. 2. Giving ourselves permission to ask for help. 3. Releasing the pressure to do everything perfectly. 4. Finding people who understand our journey. 5. Sharing resources with one another and preventing anyone from struggling alone. 6. Creating a community where parents can be honest without judgment We talked about making space for our own needs, dreams, rest, and joy OUR NEW COMMUNITY MINDSET Instead of asking: How can I do more? Let’s also begin asking: Who can help me carry this? Instead of: I should be able to handle this. Let’s say: It’s okay to need support. And finally instead of waiting until we’re completely exhausted to reach out, let’s build relationships and resources before we get there. Reach out to me or anyone on the platform. We should be comfortable talking to one another. Our AUGUST CHALLENGE
