When should I start playing OTB?
Hello.
Since no one probably knows me here, I'll do a little introduction.
I'm 16 in boarding school in the UK (I live in China) and my GCSEs are about to start. Therefore I don't have much time.
Chess-wise, my current rating is 2143 rapid (along with 1700 bullet and 2150 puzzles)
The thought of playing OTB has been in my mind for quite some time, however I never thought I would be good enough to do it and that something has been getting in the way anytime I want to. But this summer, after my GCSEs have finished, I have an opportunity.
Problem is, I don't know how to play OTB. Never once have I played in a tournamen.t I only play 10+0 rapid and literally nothing else (I'm 1300 blitz somehow). So it might be strange playing classical all of a sudden.
My final goal with chess is to get the title of FM, and I think it is doable since I am still reasonably young. Any advice you guys have would be appreciated. Thank you.
