Hi,
I'm in the UK and now have 4 ENC and 2 red wiggler bins in 6 totes (40x30x20cm) that I started in May 2026.
As we approach winter, does anyone have any advice or experience for how to winter-proof outdoor bins?
Google suggests wrapping bins in 4 layers of bubblewrap and cardboard and the bottom of bins to not have direct contact with the patio slabs.
I'm leaning towards building a wormbin tower in my small shed to avoid the wrapping up effort. But shed space is very limited so don't know if I'll get all 6 bins in.
Part of me was tempted by the idea of chucking them all into my 300L Dalek compost bin where they'll be warm enough, but that sure is a one way ticket for the worms to freedom! Don't think I'd be able to easily get them back into the totes come spring!
