Fuelling timing
Hi guys ,
I’m trying to get my head around fueling properly for longer road rides because, to be honest, I’ve always felt like I’ve got it completely wrong. I tend to start a ride feeling fine, then somewhere along the way I suddenly hit the wall and feel absolutely devastated, with no energy left in the tank. 😅 I’d love to understand how experienced riders approach fueling — how much carbohydrate you actually need, when you should start taking it on, how often you should eat or drink, and whether you should be fueling differently depending on the length or intensity of the ride. Do you fuel from the very start, or wait until you feel like you need something? I’d really appreciate any tips on how to fuel more efficiently and avoid that horrible late-ride bonk!
