Resting Is Part of the Work
Hi, my ADHD friends,
I wanted to gently let you know that I’m down with bronchitis and need to cancel today’s scheduled calls with our members so I can rest and recover.
The truth is, I was already starting to feel sick when I led our ChatGPT workshop on Tuesday. And knowing my body—and how fast things can escalate—I saw my doctor yesterday. She diagnosed me with bronchitis and prescribed antibiotics. So today, I’m pressing pause.
As a solo ADHD mompreneur, getting sick is tough. I wear all the hats in my business. But I’ve learned (the hard way) that pushing through isn’t strength—it’s survival mode.
Back when I was a young lawyer in someone else’s firm, I kept working even when I was sick. That was the culture I grew up in: If you’re not dead, you keep going. But that mentality didn’t serve me then… and it definitely doesn’t serve me now.
Now that I’m my own boss—and a mom—I get to choose differently.
Rest is not weakness. Rest is responsibility.
And I want my boys to see that. I want them to know it’s okay to listen to your body. That healing is part of being productive. And that honoring your limits is how we keep going, long-term.
The biggest gift in all of this? Ever since I surrounded myself with people who truly get it—like all of you—I feel safe being honest when I need to rest. No shame. No guilt. Just healing.
💡So today, I remind myself: Rest is not the opposite of productivity—it’s what makes it possible.
Thank you for your grace as I recover. I’ll be back soon. 💛
Have a healthy weekend, and I appreciate you. 🙏
