Hello from ChangeEight
Welcome. Here's what this place is for:
Most people plan the money. Almost nobody plans the 'everyday' that follows.
The first few weeks feel like a holiday. Then a Tuesday arrives with nothing in it, the whole day is yours, and you find you don't quite know what to do with it. You have everything you said you wanted and something still feels off. There's usually a quiet guilt sitting underneath that, because what right do you have to feel this way.
If that sounds familiar, you're in the right place, and you are not doing this wrong. It is the most ordinary thing in the world and almost nobody says it out loud.
Here's the idea this community is built on. A career quietly supplies far more than income. It gives you a reason to get up, people who expect you, a shape to the week, and a fairly clear answer to the question of who you are. All of it leaves on the same afternoon, and nobody hands you a replacement.
So we look at the whole of a life rather than one slice of it. How you feel. Your money. The people around you. What you do with your days. Your health. What you're learning. Where you live. And what it all adds up to. Eight areas. Most people are solid in two or three and quietly thin in the rest, often without having noticed.
The good news is that you don't have to fix all eight. Pick one. Progress in one area has a quiet way of pulling the others along.
What happens here:
A question every Monday. One line is a complete answer.
A place on Friday to say how the week actually went, without the highlight reel.
Worksheets in the classroom, sorted by where you are rather than handed to you all at once.
Honest questions, answered without judgment.
A word about me. I'm Matthew Geddie. I taught at a university for a couple of decades and retired myself in May, 2026. So I'm walking this rather than describing it from a comfortable distance. Before that I spent my working life as an occupational therapist, which mostly meant helping people rebuild ordinary days after something changed. It turns out to be the same problem.
You don't have to introduce yourself, and you don't have to have anything figured out. But if you'd like to say hello, tell me one thing about your week that's different from what you expected. Better or worse.
Glad you're here.
Matt
