Where it began (About Me)
At the age of 10, gymnastics became a big part of my life! Training and competing in the sport taught me discipline and resilience, skills that shaped my journey throughout my life. I guess I had a natural talent for the sport because at age 12, I was already coaching other gymnasts a bit younger than myself. Getting into stunt work... I transitioned into the world of stunt performing at age 15, combining my gymnastics background with the art of action. With my body control ability and coaching background it helped me develop training programs for stunt trainees and graded stunt professionals. This helped them build the physical skills needed for stunt work. I was doing this for a few years before I became a qualified stunt performer myself. By 2004, I earned my stunt grading. With approximately 8 years of coaching experience at this stage of my life I was offered a position as head coach for a stunt training studio where my expertise and student focus was on body control skills such as tumbling, trampolining and mini tramp. Unfortunate turn of events... As my stunt career started taking shape, unfortunately chronic pain hit me hard. This pain was undiagnosed for a long time. After years of not knowing what was causing serious pain, I was referred to a specialist for specific testing. It wasn't until then, I was diagnosed with a rare form of arthritis. The years of debilitating pain pretty much ended my stunt-performing days unfortunately, however I still had a passion and purpose for coaching and seeing my students succeed in the film and entertainment industry. Nearly all of my students came from the arts for example; dancers, actors, gymnasts, martial artists, stunt performers and circus performers. A platform for the arts... Whilst doing a diploma of game development I liked the idea of working online in the digital space. I wanted to create and provide a product or service that I was passionate about. To provide a solution to a problem that I had experienced myself. It wasn't a quick, easy idea however after thinking about the challenges I faced early in my short lived career as a stunt performer, this was the stepping stone. I had a fairly messy road map when I started out. The job opportunities were pretty hush hush, and shady agencies knowing how to take money but never really giving me anything back in return. This inspired me to create a better experience for people starting out in the film & entertainment industry or even seasoned professionals already working in this field.
