What is the point of Story Sparks?
Thanks for asking! ☺️ I believe listening and telling stories is a basic human instinct, like hunger & thirst. We start with telling our own stories to experience belonging to a community & becoming well known. I invite you to tell your own story here, whatever you are comfortable sharing. Then ask an elder or resident in your life the same question and see what story it sparks. No pressure, just have fun!
What is the point of Story Sparks?
Oops, another mistake
Yesterday, I posted the micro learning video in the classroom & got excited about @Connie Haworth care plan initiative. So I missed Story Spark yesterday. The rest of this week’s “questions” will be in the form of an answer. Why?? Listen to the 8.31 micro-learning video in the classroom tab. (6 minutes) 😏.

Person-Centered Care Plans
Like many, my Care Plans are in binders. If I touch the binders, a puff of dust rises up. In an effort to make these Care Plans more person-centered and get staff buy-in, I made these person-centered care questionnaires. The staff are working on completing all four questionnaires on all 44 of our residents. You might wonder why four questionnaires? It is to reduce the amount of stress on each care partner and resident by making these "bite size" instead of one long questionnaire. Since a good thing is better if it is shared, I wanted to share them with you. Perhaps you have something else or perhaps you have better! As these are completed, I am summarizing them onto an Excel spreadsheet to find residents with similarities and then I tell the staff about these similarities during staff meetings. For example, who knew we had two ladies that worked at ammunition plants during their working season of life? Once I have all four questionnaires completed, the person-centered care plans will commence, written from the resident's perspective. I hope you enjoy these and find something about them useful!
Hmm
Finish this story: It seemed like a good idea at the time…
