Welcome to Canva Made Easy - I'm so glad you're here
Can I just say something before we get started? You belong here. Not "you'll belong here once you figure Canva out." Not "you'll belong here when you feel more confident." Right now. Exactly as you are. Whether you've never opened Canva in your life, or you've been poking around in it for months feeling quietly confused - this is your place. I built Canva Made Easy because I kept meeting people like you. Smart, capable, resourceful people who just wanted someone to show them the simple things. Without the overwhelm. Without the jargon. Without feeling like everyone else got a manual they never received. So here's how this works. There are no silly questions here. Ever. If you're thinking it, someone else is too - and you'll be doing them a favour by asking it out loud. We celebrate small wins. Finished your first design? Post it. Changed your font and loved it? Tell us. These things matter. We are kind to each other. Always. This is a safe space and we protect that. While my heart is especially with women navigating their second act, this community welcomes anyone who shows up with kindness and a genuine desire to learn To get started: - Head to the "Introduce Yourself" thread and tell us who you are, what your business is, and one thing you're hoping to get out of being here. I read every single one. And I reply. Welcome to the community, friend. You and me - we've got this! Katrina, Blue Wren Design Studio
Friday Free-For-All
Hi friends, we all have something we struggle with in our designs. I can be a perfectionist, which makes me second-guess myself. All. The. Time. How about you? What do you struggle with?
Introduction
Hello everyone. I am new here. Hope to learn a lot. Nice to meet all of you!
Tuesday Tip - Naming Your Designs
There’s nothing that frustrates me more than searching for a Canva design that I know is there….. As someone who has thousands upon thousands of designs saved in Canva, this could be an EXTREMELY lengthy process. So let’s talk about the solution. Just like organising your files in your computer, it’s a great idea to have a naming convention with your Canva designs. When you open up a new design in Canva, it is automatically assigned a design name which includes the type of design and the size used, for example, “Untitled Design - Instagram Post (4:5)” or “Untitled Design - 500px x 500px”. As soon as you enter text into your design, the design name is taken from the first words that appear (in the example below, the design name became “Your paragraph text”. This could be fine if your design is a one-off. But what if your design is a carousel post that will appear regularly on your Instagram (think of all those posts you see that are part of a series like “Things I bet you didn’t know about Canva”). You can see that finding a particular design could take a while. However, you can search Canva for designs using key words. So it’s important that one of the first things you should do is click on that title in the top bar and change it to include as many key words that will refine your search results. I have a couple of different brands, so if I was creating an Instagram post for Blue Wren Design Studio I would probably start with “BWDS”, then describe my the type of design it would be. In this way, an Instagram post for quotes would be: “BWDS - IG - Quotes”. And, since things like brand colour palettes and styles change over the life of the business, I may even add the year and month as well. I know it might seem a little excessive, but it’s a habit that’s really worth developing. Those 30 seconds could save you 30 minutes of time spent searching somewhere down the road (and yes, I speak from experience!). So tell me, is naming your designs something you’ve always done? Or are you someone with a great system already in place?
