Dot on the Wall
When I was first learning meditation my teacher taught us a simple yet profoundly useful technique. Dot on the wall. Place a dot on a wall that is in line with you sitting comfortably. Sit with your back straight and shoulders back and relaxed. Breathe in through your nose into your stomach and breathe out through your mouth. Look at the dot on the wall and get comfortable staring at it.
This is going to teach you to focus on one thing and one thing only. To tune out all other distractions, to focus on breathing!!!
This meditation can last as long as you would like with a minimum time of five minutes!!
