Yesterday my son was walking Huxley in the woods near our house. It was around 5.30pm, so getting closer to dusk. He was working him, hunting for balls and sticks and felt that he was engaged with him and the walk was going well. Rory noticed that he suddenly changed direction with his sniffing, he whistled, Hux ignored him and ran. He did have a 2m dangling lead on but it was not in reach when he ran.
He has a tracker but Rory had forgotten his phone so couldn't use it. He was gone for 15 mins, completely out of sight, whilst Rory was looking for him and whistling. Finally Huxley returned, running back to Rory with a big happy face. He was panting, covered in saliva. Rory made a big fuss of him for coming back. Put him on the lead and came home.
We can see from his tracker that he had ran into a coppiced wood area, somewhere i take him too. The trees are very close together and he loves darting between them looking for whatever I've hidden for him to find.
He could have found his way to the road from there. Worryingly dangerous.
Help. Where do we start with that?
