Look Who's Here...
It's good to have you here with us! I would like to introduce myself. I'm Emily, but you can call me Em. I'm a Mama Bear of two boys...ages 9 and 14. I have been told I am a very "bubbly" person and I love to make people laugh and smile. But throughout the years of my life, I have experienced deep despair and hurt- you may never know that just by being around me or speaking with me. I've been diagnosed with Mental Health issues since I was about 13 and they've been a monumental part of my existence-both positively and negatively. I am in a really good place right now. Medications have carried much of the weight of my MH diagnoses. And therapy? Sure, it played it's part too! But what truly got me to where I am now (Besides the good Lord ofcourse) was taking the time to discover myself. You never know how much you are oblivious to until you're intentional about getting to know the real you. I am still learning and growing daily, and I am most definitely not ready to stop anytime soon. In fact, I am a huge proponent of being a life-long learner--curiousity never retires. One of the most random (or maybe not as random as I think) things that I've learned about myself on this journey is that I absolutely LOVE to plan things. It's both a hobby and a tremendously important life skill. Once it clicked for me that THIS was my passion- there was no going back! Planning quickly developed into a therapy for me and still is today. Clearly, you're here because you have some kind of relationship with planning too. Maybe you and planning are in a love-hate relationship. Maybe the thought of planning makes you nauseous. Or, maybe you're like me and you simply CANNOT help yourself because planning is just so rewarding from start to finish. I realize who abnormal that makes me sound, but I refuse to believe that I am the only person out here that gets all giddy when she gets a fresh new notebook and a pack of those R.S.V.P. pens! Having the opportunity to feel like I've been somehow productive-is indescribable. When I tell you that I legitimately THRIVE on checking items of my daily to do list, I am NOT exaggerating. It's my daily little hit of dopamine. :)
