Think of formatting like wrapping a present:
It doesn’t need to be fancy.
It DOES need to look clean, intentional, and easy to unwrap.
Formatting DOs:
✅ Justified text for that neat edge
✅ Consistent font choices — 1 for body, 1 for headings
✅ Use line spacing that’s readable (1.15–1.5)
✅ Use a title page, copyright, and contents — even for short books
✅ Always preview before hitting publish (especially on Kindle)
DON’T:
❌ Copy/paste straight from Word without using a proper template
❌ Use five different fonts
