Cafe Raves ?
Have you noticed the growing trend of raves, DJs, and daytime parties taking over cafe spaces? I’ve been seeing more and more of it lately and was wondering if it’s popped up in your area too. It’s an interesting shift, especially considering how diverse the coffee world is, in age, culture, and vibes.
The main reason this has sparked interest is because I work for Oatly (an oat milk company), and we’re launching a series of these events here in the U.S. after doing them successfully in Europe. The idea is to explore new spaces outside of traditional coffee moments while still staying rooted in the coffee world, where oat milk naturally lives. These "coffee raves" are kind of a creative bridge between caffeine and community.
Personally, I’m into it. I love music and coffee, so it feels like a natural combo. Instead of just sitting and chatting over coffee, these events give people a way to move, dance, and interact with the space differently. It’s cool to walk past a typically quiet cafe and suddenly see it full of life, music, and energy but still in daylight and in a safe setting. I get that it might not be everyone’s scene and could turn some folks away, but I think it reflects how cafes are evolving.
Curious if any of you experienced one of these cafe parties or raves in real time ? Whether by accident or on purpose, I’d love to hear what you thought, or just how you feel about this trend in general.
