Why I Don't Worry When Children Answer in English
Parents apologize to me all the time.
"They understand everything... they just answer in English."
I don't panic. That tells me something important. Their brain already understands the language.
Now we just have to help them feel comfortable using it.
Those are two different skills.
Speaking takes practice.
Confidence takes repetition.
Neither happens overnight.
Today's challenge
Instead of asking your child to repeat vocabulary, ask a real question.
For example:
¿Qué quieres comer?
Then wait.
Give them a few extra seconds before helping.
You might be surprised.
