WALKING WITH GOD - 30 DAY DEVOTIONAL
DAY 1 — WALKING WITH GOD - THE FIRST STEP OF FAITH
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
— Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Faith is the quiet courage to trust God when your eyes cannot confirm what your heart knows is true. Scripture tells us, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). That single line exposes the tension every believer feels — the pull between what we see and what God has promised.
Faith is not denial of reality; it is confidence in a greater reality. Hebrews 11:1 declares, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith gives shape to hope. It anchors your soul to God’s character when circumstances try to shake you loose.
Abraham lived this. God asked him to leave everything familiar and step into the unknown. No map. No timeline. Just a promise. And Abraham obeyed — not because he understood, but because he trusted the One who called him. That is the heartbeat of faith: obedience rooted in trust.
Faith also grows in the soil of trials. James writes, “The testing of your faith produces perseverance” (James 1:3). Pressure doesn’t destroy faith — it strengthens it. Every storm becomes a classroom where God teaches you who He is and who you are in Him. When life feels uncertain, faith whispers, “God is still faithful.”
But faith is not passive. It moves. It prays. It obeys. It speaks life when fear speaks death. It stands firm when everything else shakes. Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed…” (Matthew 17:20). Even small faith, placed in a big God, produces supernatural results.
Today, choose to trust Him again. Not because you see the whole picture, but because you know the Painter. Faith is your invitation to walk with God into places your strength could never carry you.
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my faith today. Teach me to trust Your voice above my circumstances. Help me walk boldly in what You have spoken, even when I cannot see the outcome. Amen.
