Behind the Director’s Chair is a space for people who want to understand how the film industry actually works beyond the usual focus on directing and acting.
If you’re here, you probably already have some experience, training, or curiosity about film, and you’re asking the question I get asked more than any other: What can I actually do with what I know so far and how do I get in?
Films are made by crews. By people who understand structure, collaboration, timing, problem-solving, politics, and how departments really intersect. Yet many of these roles and pathways are rarely explained, even to those already trying to break in.
This community exists to make those pathways visible.Not to tell you what you should aim for, but to share honest insight into the many careers that make productions work and the practical steps that help people find their way in.
