When I begin my journey as a hair stylist, I noticed at a very young age that people with highly textured, curly, or course hair visited the salon more often than someone with straight or wavy hair did. That’s when I decided to learn how to do it andI mastered it. Back in the 90s I was known by the black community as the “Spanish girl in the inlet” in Atlantic City NJ. We were providing these services before any Dominican salon existed. Mastering textured hair meant I would always have a full book because they always rescheduled for every week or two weeks, I loved the creative freedom, and I made so many life long friends along the way.
