Intro to balancing drinks
Balancing drinks is one of the hardest things for new bartends to get their head around , for most shaken cocktail the blueprint is the same : - The “body”of your drink which will usually be a 40% alcohol spirit or any other ingredient you prefer but this is what will determine the feeling of your drink the undertones and density of the drink - your sweetener of choice which can be a syrup or a liqueur or any sweet shot you can get your hands on , I tend to be careful with sugar since it can usually overpower a drink and ruin its complexity so thread carefully especially at the start of your journey as a Bartender - your acidic part which could be lemon, lime or any other acidified juice like pineapple or maybe apple , cranberry . Here we kinda of have a repeat like the sugar since overdoing it with your acidic base could absolutely kill your cocktail so as always taste the drink as you make it to make sure that it’s to your guest liking - Finally a little pinch of salt to make those flavors really pop - Next time we’ll talk about mixed drinks

Books for bartending
I will talk about a couple of book that helped me understand what bartending and alcohol are for and the how on how to become bartenders : -Diffords guide of current year or any year: great book for beginners or experts, the first pages walk you through the basics of bartending , your glassware and equipment while the rest of the pages are a week made recipes of classics or new cocktails around the world sometimes unchanged sometimes revisited -A short history of drunkenness : this book takes you through all the civilizations that came before explain how alcohol was consumed and viewed by the people , full of funny anecdotes from the time to help with sales and deepen the understanding of what we do on a day to day , I would say it’s more for experts -SapereBere :which is an Italian book viewed by many as the enciclopedia for bartenders with everything you need to know about your spirits , you should be able to find their website for non Italian speakers - liquid intelligence : this book needs no introduction some calling it the bartenders bible , this book won’t help much at the beginning but it will take you from good to great if you master his teachings in twists
