My name is Michael, and I'm from the Netherlands, where I come from a long line of hospitality professionals. As a young adult, I pursued a career in the hotel industry, eventually working my way up to Food and Beverage Manager. I held that position until the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the industry. After trying various roles in the following years, I struggled to find something that felt like the right fit. However, coffee had always intrigued me. When my children were born, I felt drawn to develop a meaningful hobbyβand I chose coffee. Today, I run a successful mobile coffee bar, and coffee has become both my profession and my passion. I'm constantly learning and deepening my knowledge of the craft. While working at my coffee bar, I noticed a growing curiosity among customers. Many were genuinely interested in coffee and enjoyed our conversations about it. Over the years, I joined several WhatsApp groups to connect with fellow enthusiastsβpartly so I wouldn't overwhelm my wife with endless coffee talk. Unfortunately, many of these groups felt unwelcoming. They were often dominated by elitist attitudes, where beginners were discouraged from asking questions. I also found it frustrating that most coffee education was scattered across lengthy YouTube videos, offering only fragments of knowledge with no real support system. When I tried new techniques and had questions, I was often met with dismissive responses rather than genuine help. That's why I decided to create my own communityβa welcoming space where everyone, regardless of experience level, can learn, share, connect, and ask questions freely. My goal is to provide a structured curriculum all in one place, fostering an inclusive environment where curiosity is celebrated, not ridiculed.
