The criteria for weightloss surgery is based on BMI and health issues relating to obesity.
BMI is calculated by hieght and weight.
18.5 is underweight.
18.5 to 24.9 is a healthy weight.
25 to 29.9 is overweight.
30 to 39.9 is obese.
40 and over is severely obese.
Being in the severly obese range qualifies you for weightloss surgery.
BMI of 35 qualifies you if you have health issues related to obesity.
You may be accepted below these thresholds as some clinics and surgeons have a lower criteria acceptance.
