What a year it has been...
Does anyone else feel like November flew by like a tornado?? This winter season has been interesting, to say the least. I usually use this time to hole up and reset, but this year has felt different — less hiding, more observation. With the solstice here and the light slowly returning, I did something unexpected and went to church for the first time in forever. Not a traditional, biblical kind of church — more a space to talk honestly about life, being human, taking care of your spirit, and helping others take care of theirs too. We sat with a couple of questions that really hit me: “What is the meaning of what seems to be? And what is really, really real?” And “How can we stop blaming ourselves or anyone else, and just accept what’s happening?” And honestly… we all got really emotional. Not because anything was wrong — because we took a moment to really listen and think about how much energy we spend placing blame on things and people, and how much time we spend worrying about things outside of our control. Letting ourselves feel instead of powering through felt really good. I literally felt my shoulders relax a little. It reminded me how much the weight of our feelings shows up in our bodies. Moving your body helps process emotions, and rhythmic, bilateral movement (left-right patterns like walking) is especially powerful. The physical activity I’ve been doing — bodyweight movement, mindful stretching, and other ways of moving — isn’t about “working out.” It’s about letting things move through me, meeting emotions in my body, and staying grounded while keeping my mind and body strong enough to carry all types of 'weight'. How has this season been landing in your body, not just your mind?

Happy new moon in Scorpio! This new moon isn’t a “light and new beginnings” vibe, it’s about realigning and clearing out what no longer serves you. Scorpio energy = transformation, depth, shadow work, endings + rebirth. Change is good, right? Right?? 🫠 Scorpio new moons ask: - What am I pretending not to see? - What have I been tolerating? - Where am I giving too much? - What needs to die so I can actually live better? It’s not gentle, but it IS liberating. Think about it and if you have time, try a few of the steps listed below! 1. The “Reset & Recenter” Ritual (10 minutes) - Sit somewhere quiet. - Put one hand on your chest, one on your belly. - Take 5 slow breaths. - Ask yourself: “What do I want more of this month? What do I want less of?” - Write down one intention in each category. Keep it super simple. 2. Declutter One Micro-Zone The new moon is a clean slate. Pick one tiny “energy drain” zone: - A drawer - Your purse - The car cupholder - Your bathroom counter. Spend 5 minutes clearing it. Done. Move on. 3. Burn + Begin - Write down something you’re done carrying (a thought, habit, pattern). - Safely burn it in a candle flame or tear it into tiny pieces. - Then write the opposite as your intention for the next 2 weeks. Example: “I’m done putting myself last.” → “I’m practicing micro-moments of care daily.” 4. Water Ritual (for emotional clarity) - Fill a glass with water. - Hold it and speak your intention into it (yes it feels silly, do it anyway). - Drink it slowly, imagining it going into your body as a program for the month. 5. “Future Me” Alignment Ask: “What would the ‘leveled up’ version of me do tomorrow morning?” Pick one tiny action and commit to it (5-minute stretch, cleaner breakfast, no phone first 10 minutes, etc.) 6. Space Clearing *Lite* No sage needed. Just: - Open a window - Shake out a pillow or blanket - Light a candle. This shifts the energy of your space enough to feel the reset.

What do YOU do??
I’m so happy you’re here to learn and grow and share your gifts! I’m curious, what’s your occupation?? What do you feel is the most physically challenging part of your job? I’m a hairdresser, mine is standing and holding my body is strange positions while I do hair. No need to go into lots of detail, but I’d like to start tailoring some movement classes that are specific to everyone’s physical demands so we can all keep it moving!

This week has been a reminder of how closely our physical well-being is tied to our work habits — especially in our physically and energetically demanding careers. Right after launching this self-care page last week, my body decided to give me a very real lesson on what happens when you don’t practice what you preach. Last Wednesday, I overloaded my shoulder from using poor form during a perm (yes, I KNOW, a F***in PERM). By the middle of the day, it tightened and locked up so badly that I had to stop mid-shift, right in the middle of one of our busiest days. Usually I can hit the heating pad for a few minutes and push through, but this was different and an obvious sign that my body had hit its limit. To recover, I took the weekend to rest. I got on the books for a lymphatic drainage massage - with cupping- which helped, but I still woke up sore. So I chatted with my massage therapist, who instructed me to approach movement intentionally: slow shoulder mobility, red light therapy, gentle incline walking, and controlled neck stretches. Nothing forced — just 'physical therapy' to reduce the inflammation and get some range of motion back. The biggest part of healing this shoulder thing though, was adjusting my workload. Not only adjusting my workload, but adjusting my mindset toward taking time to rest. I was nervous and embarrassed to admit to my clients and coworkers that I had just injured myself from doing what? Working too hard? I was honest with my boss and clients and they completely understood. It was a good reminder that transparency isn’t weakness, its part of being a real human. Burnout doesn’t always show up as exhaustion. Sometimes it shows up in the exact muscle groups and joints we rely on every day 🙃 During our busiest days of the week. Taking time to rest, slow down, and be gentle with ourselves isn’t a setback. It’s how we stay in our careers long-term. Have you ever had to adjust your work/ life schedule because your body needed it? What was that experience like for you? I'm interested to see how everyone's careers impact them differently.
