Hey yall! I'm Joe and I have been gardening in the Intermountain west for more than a decade. I live in Helena, MT zone 4a.
Almost 3 years ago I started growing microgreens for my.family, and have been selling them since June of 2022. I work with 11 restaurants, 2 grocers and a variety of direct to consumer outlets. I've had a big upswell of requests for field veg and am taking over a friend's Half acre organic plot with a 30x96 greenhouse. I have my organic application in for both this plot and my microgreen business, and NRCS applications in to erect upto 3 more high tunnels!
So while it might not seem that I am a stranger to growing, growing at this scale is definitely new to me. This fall I was able to jump in Ben Hartman's Lean Farm Course and it's been invaluable to me, much as the Neversini course has been to That said... very few course tell you how to do this best in the inter mountain west and the unique challenges it poses. And that's what first got me following Zach. I'm hear to learn from another grower dealing with short seasons, minimal rain, and extreme temperature fluctuation. And if I can share my experiences along the way, I'm glad to!
