Every month I get 2-12 more parts cars to sell parts off of then scrap what’s left in 1-2 years down the road. I bring in $35,000 a month on the low end but on my best month i sold $136,000 and some change worth of parts in a month I currently have one of the largest salvage yards in grand traverse county Michigan. I have been in business for approximately 4 years 7 months. I currently have about 18,000 listings in different places online and recieve about 15-50 local calls for different parts a day.

They are also cheaper to insure than brand new trucks and there’s no $400-$1000 monthly payment. It’s a win win in my opinion.

I keep each car for up to 2.5 years or until 60-75% of the car has been picked over then I scrap whatever is left over. My salvage yard is 22.5 acres is gated and has a shop with tools and a pole lift. I have 2 full time employees and 3 part time employees and 2 super part time employees that pull parts and list them online on fb marketplace, Craigslist, fb groups, forums and eBay and ship the parts to where they need to go and we all answer phone calls. This business brings in around $35,000-$85,000 on any given month. We currently have 284 parts cars and several other vehicles with engines like 4 wheelers golf carts motorcycles dirtbikes side by side’s snowmobiles tractors atc’s boats jetskis name it we got it. We currently have a fleet of 5 diesel trucks 3 gas trucks and 5 car haulers to pick up vehicles with and to deliver parts with locally.
