It's officially Super Bowl hangover day. After watching the spectacle that he Super Bowl is got me thinking about our profession and our performances that we get to conduct in our dream job...Auctioneering.
As much as the players that played on the biggest field on the biggest day in sports, none of them would have been there without endless amounts of practice. From the players to the coaches to the production teams and even the cheerleaders...all that were are part of the day were the best of the best. Even the fans...some paying $10,000s of thousands to attend, had to be successful in their own rights to even be able to witness in person this momentous occasion. We too...have to practice like our lives and careers depend on it, because everyday that we get to work as an Auctioneer, on stage and off, we are affecting lives in many capacities.
Spectacle... the field yesterday was a stage and everyone that was on it or around it had to perform to their utmost abilities. I'm sure there were so many butterflies on that field and each person having to control them to fly in alignment and be as successful as they could be. No room for shoulding on themselves, no room for..."I'll be ready tomorrow" Super bowl Sunday is the day of performance and each had to rise to the occasion without fear or hesitation. We too have to rise to our own occasions to help ourselves and our clients no matter the day.
Production...the production of the entire show from the field to the stands to the commercials to the halftime show, everything was planned and prepped many months before this big day. There are so many professionals that make this special day sing like a song, each playing their unique part in the puzzle of production. We too, play an important role and are a puzzle piece completing the picture of impact. We have so work with our teams, clients and even competition to make sure we complete the job with the final product in mind...a successful show no matter the score.
Winning...The team that won put their best selves on the field and gave everything they had. No more, no less, just all. Whether we are competing in an Auctioneer contest, competing for business or even competing against that monkey inside our heads, we have to give everything we have everyday. It's the winners that get to hoist the trophy but even the losers win in some capacity. They get to fight another day and build that drive to continue to be their best no matter the results. Sure the losses hurt, but the losses are what make us better than we were.
Team...Teamwork makes the dream work and everyone was a part of the team, even us at home, rooting for our favorite team amongst our team/tribe/family all pulling for a bigger cause. Every team member has a role to play to score. What roles do we play in our lives to benefit the greater good? Each individual works with each other to build a great team and it is the team that wins, not the one. I am grateful that you are all a apart of my team and that I am honored to be your head coach. I don't take my position lightly and know that my wisdom, guidance and experience are helping you to be the best and brightest you can be and that is a win to me!
So many lessons learned from the day the world stands still, that every day we are always building to the "Big" day, requiring us to do the hard work to continually be and bring our best. What are you going to do today to practice for that next big win?
