To all ATAR Students: The Power of Focus
The Biggest Problem I Faced in Year 12 Was Commitment. Here's My Story… At the start of 2024, I had already taken on multiple commitments — I was the school captain, a member of Morley Leos, working part-time at KFC, going to the gym, and maintaining relationships. It was tough. My focus was scattered. At the end of each week, I would ask myself: “What meaningful goal have I accomplished this week?” Most of the time, the answer was none — or I had simply progressed a project I was working on as school captain. But eventually, I reached a breaking point. I realised that this approach was not sustainable. - My health suffered because I wasn’t getting enough sleep. - My grades dropped because my attention was spread too thin. ~ That moment of clarity came when I had a conversation with one of the deputy principals. The conversation went like this: “I know you're doing a lot for the school, and it's great,” he said.“But you need to understand that you have to focus on one thing — and right now, you're not.” He then turned his computer screen toward me and showed my WACE tracker. On that screen, I saw 142 points predicted by the end of the year — 8 points short of earning a Merit Award, which is given to students who maintain consistent A and B grades throughout high school. In that moment, I asked a simple but powerful question: “What can I do to change this?” He showed me exactly what I needed to do to earn the 150 points required for a Merit Award.I left that conversation with a clear decision: - I would get the marks I needed. - I would turn things around. ~ During the second semester of 2024, I committed fully to achieving that goal. I made difficult but necessary sacrifices: - I stopped going out or spending time with friends during recess and lunch. - I began attending school at 6 a.m., sometimes arriving as early as 5:50 a.m. when the gardeners were just starting their work. - I reduced my hours at KFC and declined any activities that did not align with my core priorities:

I'm new in Australia and just got enrolled in an Australian school last year, 2nd sem as an ATAR year 11 student. With the help of our school principal, my subjects were: Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Methods, English, and a Certificate (6 ATAR Subjects). For months, I was sitting in my classes not knowing about ATAR, how does it works, and what should I do with it. Whilst these questions were stucked in my head, I suffered with my Methods, Chemistry, and English subject which led me to consider dropping out. My two thoughts that led me to consider were: (1) I don't want to drop out these subjects because I LOVE THEM. I love learning them even though they are hard to learn. (2) I don't want to risk my year 12 by having failed subjects and not achieving my ATAR dream. THIS HAS CAUSED ME A LOT OF STRESS. I talked to our school principal but she said that she can't change my subjects and I have to stay. She said that the "portal" which they change subjects is closed and the school year is about to end. With the advices, help and support of my friends, I realised that those hard subjects that I've got are meant for me, and I can't ran away from the path I am destined with. So, I decided to stay, focus and study for all my subjects until the end of the school year. Now, this 2025, I'm a year 12 student, still doing ATAR. But, the thing that has changed was I now know how things work, what should I do, and that I have a community that'll help me. Because of ATAR Achievers especially Anthony, with their FREE services, I realised my strengths and weaknesses. The questions that keeps bothering me that are stucked in my head were now finally answered. I now know the things I needed to do and learn, and if I didn't join this community, I would probably be stucked with the same life, questions and grades I have last year. So, If you have experienced smth like me, if you have questions or is interesed with free ATAR coach services, ATAR Achievers' has something to offer you for FREE as a bonus for joining the AA community. Feel free to ask questions or head straight to the classroom!
ATAR STUDYING
I was recently asked the following question: What Do I Wish My Year 10 Self Knew? If I could go back and give advice to my Year 10 self, I would say this: dont underestimate the importance of balance. Focus on your academics early on, because consistent effort will save you so much stress later, but dont let school take over your life. Get involved in extracurriculars, meet new people, and tak on opportunities. this was the year to explore your interests and build confidence. Surround yourself with friends who truly support you, not ones you feel you need to impress. And most importantly, take care of yourself. Sleep, eat well, and make time for things that bring you joy. Year 10 is a stepping stone, and how you approach it will set the tone for the rest of high school. Now, I am focused on preparing for Year 11 and setting myself up for success with early ATAR study. I have learned to manage my time better and prioritise self-care, so I feel more confident heading into my next chapter of life.

ATAR HOLIDAY STUDYING
thought I’d post an ATAR update today to engage more within the community. Since I’ve bought all my books a while ago, I thought I’d do a bit of extra studying of Unit 1 till school begins. I’ve taken in many tips that have already been given into studying, and they have all worked out great. I’m currently diving into Physics and Methods to get a head start before school begins. I’d love to hear how others are preparing for ATAR. Any tips or resources you’d recommend?
