Welcome Post ( ✦Start Here✦ )
Heya! Thanks for joining ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜ If you’ve imagined stories while listening to music and want to make them into animated music videos, this is the place to be! I’m Arwen ( a newbie animator and college student ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ)) who created this community as a resource hub for fellow non animators who want to get started. To get started, 1. Comment below “here” so I know you’re here and not a robot (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) 2. Look at the classroom modules, and check out the resources there (^^) If you're new, I suggest the equipment and 7 day challenge modules. As you level up by posting and commenting, you'll get more access, I did this because it's easy to get overwhelmed by too much information and not start ❤︎ Super excited to get started!! 🔥🔥 𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 You guys are the early bird MVPS. So feel free to ask any questions.
New Year
New year, new chapter 🎉 Grateful to be stepping into this year surrounded by people who actually want to grow, learn, and build something real. Last year taught me a lot about consistency, patience, and showing up even when motivation isn’t perfect. This year is about leveling up those lessons and turning them into action. I’m coming into this year focused on progress over perfection, learning faster, helping others where I can, and staying disciplined even on the quiet days. Excited to keep sharing wins, struggles, and insights inside this community and to learn from everyone else doing the same. Wishing everyone here clarity on their goals, momentum in their work, and the discipline to stick with it when it counts. Let’s make this a year we look back on and say, Yeah, that’s when things really changed.
Animators Survival Kit Book
This is one of my favorite books that I wanted to share, it talks about the 12 principles of animation and goes into walk cycles, etc. So far, I think it's a great resource and I've heard it's an essential book for animators so I just wanted to share (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) Here's an amazon link if you're interested: https://amzn.to/4hwmANh Here's a short 2 minute video of the first exercise in the book (If video is more your style): https://youtu.be/A924yjJpSXQ?si=mNCCDIyez6kG7nRd

Background Tips
I wanted to share my process on how I make my backgrounds, in case they help (^^) 1. Choose a reference ( I usually go with Pinterest ) 2. Sketch, Trace, Photo bash, etc.? It's okay to use whatever method, just be sure you give credit where it's due. For example, I traced this image so I make sure to be transparent about it & mention it as a reference. But I digitally watercolored it to my preference so it's more my style. Use whatever tools you want, just be kind and honest about it 😊💕✨ 3. Reduce your colors at first- you can get multiple ranges from just one color. So I recommend choosing 3 at most when you're getting started ✨
