I’m currently on Chapter 1.5.1, learning about the phospholipid bilayer. I understand that the membrane is selectively permeable, but I’m curious: if the lipid bilayer is constantly moving and its phospholipids can shift around, how does the cell maintain precise control over what enters and exits? Does membrane fluidity ever compromise its selective permeability, especially when temperature changes?
