Promotion Ideas?

Does anyone have any product promotion methods outside of PPC that have helped them? I'd love to be able to have most of my customers come in from posts they've seen by me on social media, but every time I post, I get relatively low amounts of views, and I'm not sure if paying money for promotion on those different platforms will actually yield any sales for me. Is this just a situation where I'll have to spend money on promotion or PPC to get sales? And if so, what have you guys found to be the most cost-effective strategy?
