Hitting overwhelm in winter
If you’ve been feeling more tired, more anxious, or more overstimulated lately… you’re not imagining it.
Winter puts extra pressure on your nervous system.
Lower light affects your mood and energy.
Shorter days make everything feel rushed.
There are more demands, more decisions, and more emotional load.
It’s a season where your body is naturally asking you to slow down, yet life asks you to speed up.
So you end up feeling:
• easily overwhelmed
• more reactive
• low patience
• mentally foggy
• physically tense
This isn’t a “mindset issue.”
It’s your nervous system regulation being pulled in every direction.
Your body is trying to protect you, not punish you.
One thing that helps to try:
Take a 60-second pause and let your exhale be slightly longer than your inhale.
It signals safety to your body and softens the stress response.
A tiny reset, but it works.
If this season feels heavy, you’re not alone, and you don’t need to push through it on your own pace.
