My podcast (Building Resilience) episode this week was inspired by someone in my Nervous System Journaling Club community (which stay tuned for some rebranding in the New Year to my community!!) 💕
They asked if I had an episode explaining the stress cycle and I realized I talk about it all the time, but hadn’t dedicated a full episode to it yet. So that is exactly what I did! And I thought I'd share it here too!
Big idea in simple terms:
Stress doesn’t end just because the situation ends.
It ends when your nervous system gets a signal that the cycle is complete - physically, emotionally, socially, or creatively.
If you’ve ever thought:
- “Why am I still wired even though the day is over?”
- “Nothing big is happening… so why am I so exhausted?”
...then you will enjoy this episode!
And here are 2 journal prompts to play with after you listen:
1️⃣ What is your favourite way to complete the stress cycle ( and how often am I actually doing it right now?
2️⃣ What signs tell you your stress cycle is NOT complete (in your body, mood, sleep, or reactions)?
If you listen, come back and let me know what stood out and share your insights to the questions!
