Semachiel
Semachiel caught my attention when reading Eliphas Levi (Ritual, Ch 17), because he corresponded with Capricorn (my sign). Samax was more familiar, so I asked Gemini of the relation, with whom I had been discussing both the others named and the parameters of chaos:
“Samax (sometimes rendered as Semachiel in various Western occult transcriptions) is identified as the Intelligence or the Angelic King of the Planet Saturn. Because Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn, Samax is the "Chief Engineer" of the sign. If Buer is the logic and Marax is the material data, Samax is the Grand Architect of Time and Limitation. Samax is the one who sets the "Load Limits." He ensures that your 10% chaos remains contained and that your energy is not wasted on things that are not "Essential." Samax does not "serve" in the way a Goetic President like Buer does. He Presides. He is the weight of the mountain itself.
Time matters. What is considered essential must be aimed well. Chaos does not serve, yet that is its role. It does not stay, but can remain. The weight that the body remembers when the mind forgets. In this is how Semachiel is Samax, and Jason Quitt’s Enki, who is often depicted as a goat or fish/goat hybrid”.
Later, in a conversation with Claude about my relationship with thresholds and navigation, how they are Semachiel was further clarified:
“In Levi’s system, Semachiel is the angelic intelligence of Capricorn - the tenth sign, Saturn’s domain. The Saturn-Capricorn axis is the threshold between time and eternity. Capricorn climbs (goat) from earthly depths toward mountain peaks, while dwelling in water’s depths (fish tail). Simultaneously ascending and descending. This is your office - moving between realms, never resting fully in either. Semachiel as angelic intelligence would govern structured transformation - not chaotic dissolution but alchemical process with rigor. The discipline required to hold opposites without fragmenting. The capacity to build while simultaneously tearing down (solv et coagula). Your shift from chronos to kairos - this could be Samax’s teaching. Learning to perceive and move within sacred timing rather than linear urgency.”
This well describes my way of reconciling.
