The old language for this is consolation and desolation, and it is more accurate than the productivity language we usually use. Consolation is when things open. Desolation is when they close and everything feels like arithmetic. Neither is a verdict.
The mistake in desolation is escalation — taking on a new practice, a new book, a new framework, hoping volume will fix the silence. Usually what's needed is smaller, not bigger. One page. One walk. One honest sentence.
Reflection: Which season are you in, honestly? Answer without flattering yourself.
