Same Query. Different AI. Completely Different Truth.
Today I ran an interesting experiment to test which AI platform gives the most accurate search-based results.
I took the exact headline of a Search Engine Roundtable article:
Google Search Quality Raters Guidelines Gains AI Overview & YMYL Definitions
Then I searched the same headline on Google. Surprisingly, the original article ranked in 3rd position, while a different article from Search Engine Land ranked above it — even though its headline was not the same.
Next, I tested multiple AI tools using the exact same headline:
Gemini did not include the original Search Engine Roundtable article in its sources.

Claude recommended the original article first, then listed another source.

Perplexity also did not show the original source in its citations.

This raises a serious question:
When users rely on AI for research, which platform is actually surfacing the most accurate and original source?
Which platforms are prioritizing secondary summaries over the real source?
And most importantly, which AI should users trust?
AI search is powerful, but source accuracy matters more than ever.
