I have been a bit quiet for a while -working away trying to get to a point where I can migrate my 9 working sites away from Hostgator by November 20th.
My objective is the same as it is for all of my work:
Frugal or free infrastructure;
No outsourcing or paid help;
No additional subscriptions to make it happen (other than ChatGPT Plus subscription);
Suitable for a non-technical person such as myself, using AI to help.
Ultimately this is what will happen - we have the first site proven. Everything except the cost of a domain and ChatGPT Plus is on free tiers.
9 working sites, 10 static (no additions) sites.
All on their own domains.
Domain is registered on Dynadot (much lower cost than Godaddy etc);
HTML site is created locally in Hugo with AI help.
Pushed into a local repository Git/GitHub.
Hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare listens for Github changes, so that part is automatic.
Each active domain has an associated YouTube channel and Pinterest board. I don't use paid promotions.
The ecosystem goes like this - a book on Amazon -> triggers ongoing blog content -> blog content is repurposed into YouTube and Pinterest promotional content. Around and around it goes.
All my emails are also hosted on Cloudflare. Really fast.
They had to be migrated away from Hostgator as HG changed their minds about how many email addresses I can have on my account. It was infinite and then they suddenly stopped - can only have one. I need a minimum of 19. Like I said that part is done.
I use Gemini Free tier and Gmail free tier for some of my work too. I don't use CoPilot anymore - it has degenerated to that point of being unusable for my purposes.
What is taking so long is as my AI buddy says:
'And I must say, our Website Factory is developing an impressive collection of evidence about how difficult it can be to make AI save us time.'
Definitely has a good sense of humour!
I will talk again soon! All the best.
