How I Live Sober | 31 Months Sober 6.20.26
Sobriety is not just about what I stopped doing.
It is about what I do every day to stay grounded, honest, healthy, and available.
Anyone can say, “I quit.”
The real work is learning how to live sober.
Here is what I do:
1. I journal or record a voice note for 30 minutes a day.I have to get what is inside of me out of me. Sometimes I write it. Sometimes I talk it out. The goal is awareness. What am I feeling? What am I avoiding? What do I need to tell the truth about?
2. I move my body for 30 minutes. Fitness helps me get out of my head and back into my body. Walking, stretching, working out, whatever I can do that day. The point is movement.
3. I eat three meals a day - one being Shakeology. I cannot make good decisions when I am running on empty. Structure matters. Food matters. My body needs consistency.
4. I take care of my skin with patience. When my eczema breaks out, like it is right now, I have to slow down and treat it with care. Clean it. Be patient with it. Drink my green tea and alkaline water. Do what helps my body heal instead of getting frustrated with it.
5. I read for 30 minutes. Right now, reading the Bible is part of my daily foundation. It reminds me to pause, pray, listen, and stay connected to God. The Bible I use is linked in my Amazon store.
6. I go to 90 minutes of group therapy once a week. I need safe spaces where I can be honest, be challenged, and hear from others. Healing does not happen in isolation.
7. I have an accountability partner. I need someone who can tell me the truth and for me that’s . Someone who can ask the hard questions. Someone who helps me stay aligned when my emotions try to run the show.
8.I take things 24 hours at a time. I can’t change yesterday. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. But today I can aim to be the best version of myself and show up in all I do. You can make the same choice. You vs You. Own it. Design your family, faith, fears, finance and fitness. Do the work.
This is how I live sober.
Not perfectly. Not without moments.cNot without needing correction.
But one day at a time. One decision at a time.
One prayer at a time.
Find the leak: Where am I slipping, avoiding, reacting, or trying to do life alone?
Fix the plan: Journal. Move. Eat. Read. Pray. Show up unapologetically me. Tell the truth. Ask for help.
Build the legacy: Stay available to God, to healing, to service, and to the people I am called to help.
Sobriety is not just physical.
It is emotional. It is spiritual. It is mental. It is relational.
My reminder today:
Pause. Ponder. Pray. Proceed.
Take action today. Pick one thing from this list and do it before the day ends. And comment below what you will work on. Let’s go!
