Lesson 2: The Timeline
You’ll leave with:
your timeline mapped, the pattern underneath it, and one word that describes who you actually are.
My story
Twenty-four years doesn’t fit in a sentence.
I started coaching in person. Then I moved. And rebuilt. And moved again. I rebuilt my business in more cities than I want to count before I finally took it online ten years ago, because I was done starting over every time my address changed.
Then we left Canada in 2018. Eight years in Mexico and South America. Somewhere in there, AI images walked into my work and changed what I could build. And this year, we came back to Canada.
When I tell that story out loud, it sounds like chaos. When I put it on a timeline, it looks like a path.
Why this matters
Here’s what the timeline showed me that the story never did.
I’m not someone who keeps starting over. I’m someone who rebuilds. Every move, every city, every version of the business, I took what I had and built it again, better. That’s not chaos. That’s a pattern. And it’s my identity.
You have one too. You just can’t see it from inside the story.
Most coaches build their brand on what they do. The clients who choose you are choosing who you are. If you can’t name that, your visuals can’t show it.
Your turn: map it
Step 1. Grab paper or open a doc. Draw one line, left to right.
Step 2. Mark the 5 to 7 moments that changed your direction. Not the highlights. The turns. The move, the loss, the leap, the “I’m done with this.”
Step 3. Look at the whole line and answer one question:
What does the person on this timeline keep doing?
Don’t overthink it. The first honest word is usually the right one.
Bonus: make it visual
Want to see your timeline the way you just saw the AI one?
Paste this into ChatGPT:
Create a horizontal timeline infographic of my personal journey. Use these moments: [paste your 5 to 7 turns with years]. Style: editorial, cinematic, using my brand colors [your colors]. Title it “[your one word].” Keep text minimal, one short line per moment.
Then do what we always do: check every date and every word before you share it. AI gets timelines wrong. You saw it in the last post.
Share it
Drop your one word in the comments. Post your timeline image if you made one.
I’ll go first: Rebuilder.
You’ll leave with: your timeline mapped, the pattern underneath it, and one word that describes who you actually are.
