5 Struggles
- I sacrificed most of my time, money, and body to pursue a career as a MMA fighter and I’ve had multiple setbacks, injuries, and roadblocks.
- I was cutting weight the wrong way at an early age, this had created a “yo-yo” dieting cycle that I’ve struggled with my whole career. It comes with risk to my body during drastic weight cuts, slower time back to fighting, body dysmorphia, and more.
- I have invested more money into my career than its current return. I’ve struggled financially for most of it, and that becomes especially difficult when preparing for a fight or trying to recover from one.
- I set extra pressure on myself that doesn’t need to be there. Because of this, I’ll overtrain, over-think, and get anxious often. It is often counter-productive.
- Injuries. They hurt, they’re expensive, they’re frustrating to deal with. I have difficulties when my routine is thrown off from them, and it’s always disappointing when you’ve re-injured it.

5 Contrasting Wins
- I love what I do so much that I’m happily willing to go through all the pain and suffering that it takes to be a champion. Building a life for your family, a legacy, and being an example is worth every bit of it.
- I took the time to learn about nutrition, and I now enjoy making and eating healthy meals for myself. I have developed good habits on counting calories, tracking nutrients, meal prep, and more.
- I’ve had to work a lot of different jobs to pay for everything and have been able to develop different skills along the way that have been useful to me personally and professionally.
- I have had experience competing in martial arts at the age of 10. I competed at the U.S Open for Karate at 12, fought my sanctioned MMA bout at 15, and have gained more confidence as I’ve climbed to bigger stages. I’ve developed the skill of remaining calm under external and internal pressure for a long time and it continues to improve with more fights.
- I’ve been able to become a better athlete by working with doctors, physical therapists, and world champions. I’ve been able to prevent a lot more injuries that I’ve obtained (and that’s alot) and have been able to help others.
