Psychic Healing as an Aspect of Human Potential:
An Historical Look at Its Evolution through the Ages The use of laying-on-of-hands to heal human illness dates back thousands of years in human history. Evidence for its use in ancient Egypt is found in the Ebers Papyrus dated at about 1552 B.C. This document describes the use of laying-on-of-hands healing for medical treatment. Four centuries before the birth of Christ, the Greeks used Therapeutic Touch therapy in their Asklepian temples for healing the sick. The writings of Aristophanes detail the use of laying-on-of-hands in Athens to restore a blind man's sight and return fertility to a barren woman.
The Bible has many references to the laying-on-of-hands for both medical and spiritual applications. It is well known that many of the miraculous healings of Jesus were done by the laying-on-of-hands. Jesus said,"These things that I do, so can ye do and more." Laying-on-of-hands healing was considered part of the work of the early Christian ministry as much as preaching and administering the sacraments. In the early Christian church, laying-on-of-hands was combined with the sacramental use of holy water and oil.
A number of early researchers into the mechanisms of healing theorized on the likely magnetic nature of the energies involved. One of the earliest proponents of a magnetic vital force of nature was the controversial physician Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, otherwise known as Paracelsus (1493-1541). In addition to his discoveries of new drug therapies, Paracelsus founded the sympathetic system of medicine, according to which the stars and other bodies (especially magnets) influenced humans by means of a subtle emanation or fluid that pervaded all space. His theory was an attempt to explain the apparent link between human beings and the stars and other heavenly bodies. Paracelsus' sympathetic system may be viewed as an early astrological insight into the influences of the planets and stars on human illness and behavior.
The proposed link between humans and the heavens above was through a subtle pervasive fluid, perhaps an early construct of the "ether," which existed throughout the universe. He attributed magnetic qualities to this subtle substance and felt that it possessed unique qualities of healing. He also concluded that if this force was possessed or wielded by someone, then that person could arrest or heal diseases in others. Paracelsus stated that the vital force was not enclosed inside an individual but radiated within and around him or her like a luminous sphere which could be made to act at a distance. Considering the accuracy of his description of the energies surrounding people, one wonders whether or not Paracelsus could clairvoyantly observe the human auric field.
In the century following Paracelsus' death, the magnetic tradition was carried on by Robert Fludd, a physician and a mystic. Fludd was considered to be one of the most prominent alchemical theorists of the early seventeenth century. He emphasized the role of the sun in health as a source of light and life. The sun was considered the purveyor of life beams required for all living creatures on earth. Fludd felt that this supercelestial and invisible force in some way manifested in all living things and that it entered the body through the breath. (Similar to our Psychic Energy Meditations)
One is reminded of the Indian concept of prana, the subtle energy within sunlight which is assimilated through the process of breathing. Many esotericists feel that by mentally directing the visualized stream of inhaled prana, healers may focus this etheric energy through their hands and into the patient.
Fludd also believed that the human being possessed the qualities of a magnet.
In 1778 a radical healer stepped forward to say that he could achieve remarkable therapeutic success without the need for patients' faith in the healing powers of Jesus or himself. Franz Anton Mesmer claimed that the healing results which he obtained came through the enlightened use of a universal energy which he called fluidum.' (Are you taking notes?)
(There is an interesting similarity between the terminology of Mesmer's fluidum and the ethereal fluidium mentioned in Ryerson's channeled material, i.e, the substance of the etheric body.) Mesmer claimed that fluidum was a subtle physical fluid that filled the universe, and was the connecting medium between people and other living things, and between living organisms, the earth, and the heavenly bodies. (This theory is quite similar to Paracelsus astrological concept of sympathetic medicine.) Mesmer suggested that all things in nature possessed a particular power which manifested itself through special actions upon other bodies.
He felt that all physical bodies, animals, plants, and even stones were impregnated with this magical fluid.
During his early medical research in Vienna, Mesmer discovered that. placing a magnet over areas of the body afflicted with disease would often effect a cure. Experiments with patients who had nervous disorders often produced unusual motor effects. Mesmer noted that successful magnetic treatments frequently induced pronounced muscle spasms and jerks. He came to believe that the magnets he used for therapy were mainly conductors of an ethereal fluid which issued forth from his own body to create subtle healing effects in patients. He considered this vital force or fluid to be magnetic nature, referring to it as "animal magnetism" (to distinguish it from mineral or ferromagnetism).
Through his research, Mesmer came to believe that this subtle energetic fluid was somehow associated with the nervous system, especially when his treatments would often cause involuntary muscle spasms and tremors. He hypothesized that the nerve and body fluids conveyed the fluidum to all areas of the body, where it animated and revitalized those parts. Mesmers concept of fluidum is reminiscent of the ancient Chinese theory of chi energy which flows through the meridians, feeding the vital force to the nerves and tissues of the body.
(Next months topic 5 Elements of Healing)
Mesmer realized that the life-sustaining and regulating actions of the magnetic fluidum were integral to the basic processes of homeostasis and health. When the individual was in a state of health, he or she was considered to be in harmony with these most basic laws of nature, as expressed by a proper interplay of the vital magnetic forces. If disharmony occurred between the physical body and these subtle forces of nature, sickness was the end result. Mesmer later realized that the best source of this universal force was the human body itself. He felt that the most active points of energetic flow were from the palms of the hands. By placing the practitioner's hands on patients for direct healing, energy was allowed a direct route to flow from healer to patient. Because of Mesmer's influence during this revolutionary period in French history, the technique of laying-on-of-hands, otherwise known as "magnetic passes," became quite popular.
Unfortunately, many scientific observers at the time considered Mesmerism to be merely an act of hypnosis and suggestion. (To this day, many scientists still refer to hypnosis as "mesmerism," thus the origin of the term
"mesmerized.") In 1784, the king of France appointed a commission of inquiry into the validity of Mesmer's experiments in healing. Among the commission were members of the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Medicine, the Royal Society, as well as the American statesman-scientist Benjamin Franklin. The experiments which they devised were constructed to test the presence or absence of the magnetic fluidum which Mesmer claimed was the healing force behind his therapeutic successes. Unfor-tunately, none of the tests devised by the commission were concerned with the measurement of fluidum's medical effects. The conclusion of this prestigious commission was that fluidum did not exist. Although they did not deny Mesmer's therapeutic successes with patients, they felt that the medical effects which Mesmer produced were due to sensitive excitement, im-agination, and imitation (of other patients). Interestingly, a committee of the Medical Section of the Academie des Sciences examined animal magnetism again in 1831 and accepted Mesmer's viewpoint. However, despite this validation, Mesmer's work never achieved widespread recognition.
As more recent laboratory investigations into the physiological effects of laying-on-of-hands have confirmed the magnetic nature of these subtle healing energies, researchers have demonstrated that Mesmer's understanding of the magnetic nature of the subtle energies of the human body was centuries ahead of his contemporaries. As will be shown, direct measurement of these energies by conventional tools of electromagnetic detection are as difficult today as during Mesmer's time.
Mesmer also discovered that water could be charged with this subtle magnetic force and that the stored energy from bottles of healer-treated water could be transmitted to sick patients by way of metallic iron rods which the patients would hold in their hands. The storage device which was used to relay healing energy from the charged water to patients was known as the "bacquel" Although today many consider Mesmer to have been a great hypnotist, there are few who really understand the pioneering nature of his research into the subtle magnetic energies of healing.
Chakra Dynamics & the Spiritual Lessons of Personal Evolution
Each of the seven major chakras has its particular emotional and spiritual lesson to be learned. The chakras connect the organs, glands, and nervous centers of the body with the vital forces which animate the physical body. The degree to which an individual is successful in dealing with the particular lessons inherent in each chakra will determine the amount of subtle-energy flow which can move into the body to maintain proper health.
When a chakra is functioning abnormally because of improper attitudes, old self-deprecating message tapes, fears, and guilt, the organs which receive vital flow from that chakra become affected. Total avoidance of a particular lesson can result in blockage of the chakra and inadequate vital flow to the associated organs. (Soul Lessons)
The lack of subtle-energy flow due to chakra underactivity may manifest as a degenerative, destructive, or cancerous lesion in the deprived chakra-associated organs. Conversely, over exaggeration and over focusing on a particular emotional issue to an extreme degree can result in too much energy flow through a chakra. Chakra overactivity can result in overstimulation of the associated glands, overproduction of cells in the form of tumor growth, and inflammation. The lessons of the chakras and their associated energetic function is summarized in Diagram 29.
As can be seen in Diagram 29, the lower two chakras (root and sacral) are classified as physiologic in nature. They are related to the basic processes of absorption, assimilation, excretion, and reproduction. The primal issues dealt with at this level are groundedness, connection to the Earth, sexuality, and survival instincts. These might be considered "earthier" issues of spiritual development, which must be adequately addressed and mastered in order for consciousness to rise to higher levels of focus.
The third, fourth, and fifth chakras (solar-plexus, heart, and throat) are considered to be related more to issues of personal development and individuation. These issues include establishment of a sense of personal power in relation to self and one's external relationships, development of the higher love nature (in expressing love toward self and others), and communication and mastery of the will (discipline). From lowest to highest, these three chakras process energies originating at the lower astral, higher astral, and lower mental levels of vibration, respectively. On a physiologic level, these centers control the processes of digestion and purification, cir-\culation, respiration, immune defenses, and the preservation of the integrity of the self.
The higher major chakras— the brow and crown centers— are primarily spiritual in nature. The brow center helps to direct the higher spiritual forces (from the higher mental, to the causal, and higher vibrational levels) into the third eye. The process of subtle-energy assimilation through the brow chakra assists the individual in intuitive decision-making and in seeing beyond the physical level (clairvoyance). As the name implies, the crown chakra is the highest center. The seventh chakra is especially activated when the individual is attuned toward inner searching for the meaning of life, during the practice of meditation, and through the process of active spiritual seeking.
In reality, the first three centers (root, sacral, and solar-plexus chakras) form a lower triad of physiologic and grounding functions. The uppermost three centers (throat, brow, and crown chakras) form the higher spiritual triad. (The throat center is also involved in receptivity to higher vibrational influences via the mechanism of clairaudience.) The heart chakra is the bridge between the lower and the higher triads. It is only through the manifesting of one's higher love nature that one can unite the higher and lower energies. The ultimate expression and the unfoldment of the heart chakra is unconditional love and the active demonstration of the Christ consciousness.
When one learns to develop and manifest the higher spiritual aspects of the heart chakra, one comes closer to eliminating physical disease not only from the heart and associated organs but also from the entire physical body. (Listen to your heart 👂)
Up to this point we have examined the subtle-energy pathways which link the major chakras to the normal functioning of the human body. Each main chakra provides nutritive energy for the health and homeostatic maintenance of the body's integrated physiologic systems. An individual's level of emotional growth and spiritual development is directly related to the functioning and openness of each major chakra. The amount of chakric energy flow, in turn, affects the physiology of the physical organs of the body. If a chakra is blocked, then there will be an associated difficulty in the organ (or organs) which receive energy from that center. There is a key symbolism behind the location of illness in the body and the emotional blockage that is occuring within the personality. An understanding of how emotional and spiritual difficulties can create disease in the body is based on a broad working knowledge of how the chakras affect physical and mental illness (as discussed in the previous section).
#######
If physicians understood that emotional and spiritual blockages were indirectly responsible for organ dysfunction in the body, there would be more attention directed to dealing with a patient's psychotherapeutic needs and not just with the pharmaceutical and surgical aspects of a patient's care. Conventional medical treatments are necessary at this time to deal with the disease processes that manifest, but vibrational therapies can often augment their effectiveness. The various subtle-energy treatments-flower essences, gem elixirs, crystal and color therapies— work at the level of the chakras and subtle bodies to assist in energy rebalancing. It is physicians' lack of knowledge of the chakras and subtle bodies and their relationship to illness that keeps many practitioners from understanding the great potential of the vibrational remedies that have been discussed throughout this book.
Perhaps one of the simplest but most powerful methods of opening, activating, and cleansing blockages in the chakras is through the techniques of meditation. Although meditation is sought by many as a source of relax-ation, it is much more than that. In addition to providing relaxation to the body, meditation opens the mind to the energies of the Higher Self. It helps to clear the mind of day-to-day concerns of the earthly personality, and allows higher information to be processed through the individual's consciousness. Most forms of meditation do this to some degree or another. However, certain meditative techniques are more powerful than others in accelerating this process of inner communication.
When traumatic emotional events oc-cur which hold back one's growth in a particular needed direction, there is an associated blockage acquired in one of the chakras of the body. This blockage is an impediment to the natural flow of the creative kundalini energies up the spinal cord to higher chakras. To varying degrees, certain stresses which are acquired through the course of one's life become locked into an area of the subtle body and its associated area in the physical musculoskeletal system.
The daily practice of meditation, done over a period of many years, results in the gradual upliftment of the kundalini energies, which in turn opens each of the chakras from the root center on up to the crown chakra. As the chakras are opened, subtle stresses that have been incurred throughout the individual's life are slowly dissipated.
Releasing of the blockage to energy flow through a chakra is partly due to the cleansing and opening effect of the kundalini forces, but is also related to the gradual realization of the emotional and spiritual lessons necessary to the proper functioning of that chakra. The meditational process assists in the learning of such important life lessons over time as the conscious personality begins to understand the reasons for existing blockages. This information comes slowly to the individual through meditation as he or she learns to listen to the inner wisdom of their own Higher Self.
Meditation helps to build subtle energy bridges of learning and communication which connect the physical personality to knowledge contained within their own higher vibrational structures of consciousness.
Learning about the obstacles we have chosen to overcome and the necessary activation energy needed to achieve these goals can make life on the physical plane much easier for us. Humans need only learn that they already possess the required equipment and energy to realize these goals. It has often been said that it is unfortunate that human beings do not come with an "Owner's Maintenance Manual" In a sense, meditation allows one to enter into states of consciousness that allow access to information equivalent to an "Owner's Consciousness Maintenance Manual."
This information is already stored in our higher memory banks, but it is locked up and inaccessible to the waking personality unless special codes are entered through the biocomputer of the human mind. By entering these special codes into the mechanism of consciousness, meditation allows one to access both subconscious and superconscious memory banks to gain a greater understanding of the hidden aspects of oneself. The use of symbolic imagery in meditation allows one to utilize the gateway of the right cerebral hemisphere to tap into higher levels of human awareness.
These methods can be used to acquire a greater understanding of the reasons behind various obstacles or stresses that may be occuring at a particular period in the lifepath.
As the obstacles of life are overcome, especially those blockages that we ourselves have created, the impediments to inner creative energy flow are dissolved and the kundalini's path of ascension is made easier to climb.
“Most of the time the obstacles that have been created are not in the external world, but exist only within the faulty perception of the self.”
Removing the blocks to the perception of truth brings human beings closer to the realization that they are manifestations of light, love, and the energies of the Creator. Meditation is one of those powerful tools that can bring each individual, in time, to a realization of these higher truths and a better understanding of the seeming life struggle that is being played out upon the physical plane.
During embryogenesis, the subtle-energy bodies, including the etheric and astral templates, are formed before the physical body develop. The chakras that develop in the fetus' etheric and astral form are affected by the energies carried over from the previous lives of the incarnating soul.
If the chakras in the fetal body do not provide the necessary sustaining energies to the developing organs, there can be underdevelopment of particular cellular structures at the physical level. Thus, a severe blockage in the heart center relating to either an inability to express love or to too much negativity (ie, "hard heartedness") in a past life may manifest as a congenital heart defect in the newborn.'
Karmic illnesses may appear as developmental abnormalities in the infant or they may occur later in the life of the individual. The chakras are the energy repositories of karma. One might say that the chakras are like batteries which store "karmic energy charges." Chakras absorb the subtle energies which relate to the development of the soul in previous lives, and assist in the transformation of the physical body to express unlearned spiritual lessons in the form of physical illnesses. These diseases pose problems and obstacles for the personality to overcome during the present lifetime. Such obstacles can serve as either stumbling blocks or points of personal and spiritual transformation, depending upon whether the individual can discover the esoteric meaning behind his or her "dis-ease."
Although illnesses relating to experiences in a past life are hard to understand, it is only through a true comprehension of human subtle-energy anatomy and the reality of reincarnation that the meaning of disease may be entirely understood and remedied. Meditation is a powerful tool by which individuals may come to understand the meaning behind their illnesses and the lessons which must be learned before they can truly be well. Meditation holds the key to understanding the interlocking nature of the physical, astral, mental, and higher spiritual selves. Each integral energetic element works to assist the soul in developing its many facets and to understand its own true higher nature.
In its earthly sojours and experiences, the soul comes to comprehend its own higher spiritual qualities through selfless acts of love, service, and caring. When the physical personality has difficulty in expressing these most basic lessons of soul development, physical diseases may be acquired as learning experiences. Depending upon the blockage of expression within the personality, dysfunctions will appear in various chakras. The ab normal flow of subtle energies through the chakras is then translated into physical illness in a particular organ. Through meditation, the personality may come to discover the true meaning behind the physical illness with which it is afflicted. If the person can then correct that problematic emotional and spiritual dysfunction, the disease will often improve or completely abate. Of course, there are additional karmic factors which enter into the equation which make the issue somewhat more complex. But the basic idea still applies.
The real reason to meditate is to achieve enlightenment. Enlightenment might be defined here as a more cosmic or energetic perspective of the structures of consciousness, a feeling of unity with all lifeforms, and an understanding of the spiritual workings behind physical reality. This higher level of perception will ultimately allow the individual to comprehend the meaning of his or her life in relationship to others and to the universe in general. This is what is referred to as a more cosmic perspective. Meditation may ultimately allow humans to come into closer relationship and greater comprehension of God the Creator.
In human beings the process of enlightenment is intimately tied to the proper alignment and normal functioning of the major chakras of the body.
When all of the major chakras are open and active and when there is adequate etheric vitality in the body, the human being begins to function at optimal levels of health and higher consciousness. Attunement of the personality toward seeking higher spiritual meanings in life, whether it is through Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, or any other world religion, ultimately results in an awakening of the seven major chakras.
Meditation merely amplifies this gradual process of awakening. It accelerates the opening of the chakras and their alignment with the physical and subtle bodies in special ways that devotion and prayer alone do not achieve as quickly and directly.
Physiologic Concepts of Meditation & Enlightenment:
In addition to the subtle-energy activation of the various chakras, meditation causes physiologic effects in the body that have been documented by researchers in various centers. Scientists at the Maharishi European Research University have shown that long-term meditators demonstrate greater coherence of brain wave activity between the left and right cerebral hemispheres while practicing the TM meditative technique." Electrical wave activities generated by the two hemispheres of such meditators are more in step, and function with greater coordination, than in non-meditators.
Long-term practice of yogic types of meditation has been correlated with greater control of the autonomic nervous system. Yogis such as Swami Rama and others have demonstrated to Western scientists their ability to selectively regulate heart activity, skin temperature, and blood flow. More recent studies have shown that particular yogic meditative practices have positive therapeutic benefits to individuals with various illnesses such as asthma. Asthmatic patients practicing pranayama (a special breathing technique) and other yogic meditative techniques have demonstrated fewer asthma attacks, less shortness of breath, and greater control over their breathing.
The holographic model of the universe gives a new foundation for comprehending the unseen energy interconnections between all things This integral relationship between human beings and their environment was always something that was intuitively sensed by the Eastem teachers of ancient times It is only now that there has evolved a scientific theoretical foundation for this profound inner perception. The Einsteinian viewpoint of matter as particularized energy shows us that we are all constructed from the same subatomic building blocks At a microcosmic level, we are each complex yet uniquely arranged aggregates of the same particularized universal energy. As scientists and religious scholars start to view the universe from the new perspective of its being an evolving energy in many forms, the two fields may gradually find common ground.* In a way, we are seeing the earliest attempt at reintegration of religion and science, as both disciplines again begin to understand the world through a unified vision.
All living and inorganic things are shaped from the same matter that exists throughout the physical universe. (First matter) Astrophysicists have now surmised that the matter from which the Earth and its inhabitants have evolved was born in the cosmic incubators of second and third generation stars similar to our own nearby sun. The vast array of physical elements on our planet have their origin in the building up of matter from molecular evolution.
The solar fusion of hydrogen to form helium, the triple alpha process of helium recombining to form carbon, and so on up the elemental ladder have provided the primal ingredients for planetary evolution and the emergence of life on Earth. We are all made from the same "Star stuff," the basic building blocks of the universe. And whether that material comes from aggregates of cosmic dust, reformed primordial hydrogen, or even astral mat-ter, its basic nature is that of particularized, frozen energy. All matter is energy and light in its myriad forms and manifestations.
The last ingredient to understanding these cosmic processes is the realization that consciousness somehow participates in this entire process of evolution on both a planetary and organismic scale. This final piece of the puzzle has been the hardest to swallow for most, but it is a most important motivating force behind the evolutionary process. In fact, consciousness itself is a form of energy. It is the highest form of energy and is integrally involved with the life process. If we consider consciousness as a fundamental quality and expression of life energy, we come closer to understanding how spirit interacts with and manifests through the many forms of physical matter.
It is, in fact, the journey of spirit through the worlds of matter that provides the strongest driving force for the evolutionary process.
As we begin to glimpse this greatest of truths about our hidden spiritual heritage, only then will we truly understand the higher dimensional aspects of the life processes of human beings. Simple chemistry and physics alone do not hold all the answers to piecing together the puzzle of human physiology, as the pragmatic Newtonian scientists would like to believe. It is only when the higher dimensional components of physics and chemistry are added to the equation of life that we can make sense of the open-ended energy system that constitutes the multidimensional human being. The realities of spirit do not negate the laws of science. They only extend existing laws to include the higher frequency dimensions of matter, even as Einsteinian physics incorporated the earlier discoveries of Newtonian mechanics but went far beyond.
As our vision of light has extended to understanding not only inorganic physical matter but also the behavior of organic living matter from a subtle energy perspective, we are creating the foundations for a new medicine and a new psychology of human beings. Society has just begun to witness the earliest glimmerings of understanding of these principles by the medical profession.
As more physicians, nurses, and other health care practitioners become interested and involved in the field of "holistic medicine," there will come a greater understanding of what "holistic" really means. The term holistic, in reference to the health and wellness of human beings, implies not only a balance between the aspects of body and mind but also between the multidimensional forces of spirit that until now have been only poorly understood by the vast majority. For truly, it is the endowing power of spirit that moves, inspires, and breathes life into that vehicle we perceive as the physical body. A system of medicine which denies or ignores its existence will be incomplete, because it leaves out the most fundamental quality of human existence-the spiritual dimension. As doctors see themselves more as healers and less as practitioners, spirit will be more appreciated as a motivating factor in health.
Throughout progressive chapters of this book, I have endeavored to construct an image of humans as entities who consist of more than physical nerves, muscles, and bones. We are multidimensional beings of energy and light, whose physical body is but a single component of a larger dynamic system. Put another way, humans are mind/body / spirit complexes which exist in continuous dynamic equilibrium with higher energy dimensions of reality. The tissues which compose our physical form are fed not only by oxygen, glucose, and chemical nutrients, but also by higher vibrational energies which endow the physical frame with the properties of life and creative expression.
These subtle energies are hierarchical in nature, and work from higher levels downward until they become manifest at the level of the physical body. The higher vibrational energies represent the organizing structures of consciousness which utilize the physical body as a vehicle of expression within our physical space/time universe. Each physical body and personality is an extension of a higher spiritual consciousness which seeks to evolve through learning experiences encountered in the school of Earth life. The drive of spirit to evolve toward a higher quality of consciousness is the motivating force behind the reincarnational system. This increased quality of consciousness can only be achieved through individual experiences and many lives within the physical body. Thus, spirit uses the physical form as a teaching and learning tool. While the physical body may be transitory, the experience and knowledge gained while in physical form is everlasting.
The integral mechanism which regulates the flow of higher energies into the physical form consists mainly of the chakra-nadi system and the physical-etheric interface. The physical-etheric interface is a unique bridge of subtle energies which includes the acupuncture meridian system, It connects the organic / molecular form with the organizational energies of etheric body. The etheric body is a holographic energy field or growth template which maintains order and determines structural patterning within the cellular matrix of the physical body. The etheric energies provide a waveguide upon which to organize cellular structure and function.
They synergistically coordinate life activities through vibrational, genetic and other subtle molecular mechanisms.
In addition, high-frequency energies entering through the chakras are distributed to the appropriate organs of the body by the fine network of nadis. This higher vibrational input provides a subtle nutritional and organizational influence to the cells of the physical body, helping to maintain balance and order at the molecular level of expression. The total balance and health of the human organism is a product of a balanced and coordinated functioning of both physical and higher dimensional homeostatic regulatory systems. If there is a system failure at any level of the physio-energetic hierarchy, physical breakdown and illness may occur. Health is therefore a function of proper alignment, balance, and coordination of the higher subtle-energy forms and forces with the physical vehicle. When energetic disturbances occur at the etheric and higher frequency levels of nature, pathologic changes eventually manifest at the physical/cellular level.
From a reincarnational perspective, illness or disease can be viewed as an Earth learning experience. The location and nature of many illnesses often contain symbolic information which, if properly decoded, can assist the individual in understanding certain emotional and mental blockage of which he or she may not be aware. These blockages are occasionally karmic, and represent deficiencies in the quality of the incarnating emotional / mental matrix that have been incurred by negative or traumatizing experiences from past lives. Correction of an energy dysfunction occuring at emotional, mental, and spiritual levels of organization will result in a restructuring of the etheric template and improved functioning of the chakras.
Thus the physical body will be healed from a more primary level of causation.
The realization by physicists that at a quantum level, all substance is particularized frozen light, gives credence to the concept that matter of different frequencies can coexist in the same space. This is similar to the observation that energy of different frequencies, such as radio and TV waves, can coexist nondestructively within the same space. In the case of human subtle anatomy, the interpenetrating structures of varying frequencies of matter are the physical, etheric, astral, and higher vibrational vehicles.
Also inherent within the holographic model is its application for dealing with the universe as one large, dynamically changing energy interference pattern — a gigantic real-time hologram. The holographic mode. teaches us how vibrational patterns of universal energy can hold unseen levels of structured information that may be tapped, understood, and even manipulated if properly approached. The human body, if considered as such an energy pattern, can be comprehended as a teaching tool which holds within it many lessons about the true nature of self, one's larger reality, and even the structure of the universe.
